Christ's School in Top 2% of Schools Nationally for Sport

Athletics Collage (2)Basketball collageAthletics collageChrist’s School has, yet again, been recognised for it’s sporting success. Christ’s has been named amongst the 100 best sporting state schools in the country for the first time. Christ’s have entered the prestigious rankings, by School Sport Magazine, at number 52 which places Christ’s in the top 2% of schools nationally for sport.

Christ’s is the only school in Richmond Borough and one of only a handful of schools across London to have achieved this accolade.

Commenting on this fantastic achievement, Tom Smith, Head of PE at Christ’s School, said “To appear in the top 100 is a real team effort on behalf of the entire School community. It is testament to the hard work of our sports staff who ensure that we offer high quality provision across a wide variety of sports and, the dedication of our students who engage and participate in sport at every level.”

Headteacher Helen Dixon added “Being ranked in the top 100 state schools for sport is an outstanding achievement and one we are incredibly proud of, especially given the size of our School, the number of sports staff and current budget constraints. Our top 100 Ranking is a result of our long term strategic vision to provide outstanding recreational and competitive sporting opportunities for all of our students. We have used competitive sport to energise the School and create a culture of opportunity and achievement.”

The Top 100 Sporting State Schools of the Year list reflects competitive achievement in a range of sports throughout 2018 and honours those schools that take competitive sport seriously. The rankings are based on over 20 different sports and more than 120 different competitions nationally. Schools in the top 30 are within the top 1% of sporting schools across the country whilst those within the top 100 are in the top 3%.
