Welcome from the Headteacher
Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope that you have had a fantastic summer with your families and, wherever you have been, you have enjoyed plenty of sunshine and a good dose of the Olympics!
It was fantastic to welcome you and the children back to Christ’s on Monday 5 September. I would like to extend a particularly warm welcome to those who are new to the school this year. I hope that this is the first of many happy and successful years for you and your children at Christ’s School.
Our busy and successful PTA are always looking for help. For ways in which you can help please read the PTA pages on our website.
I am also delighted to welcome several new faces on to the staff. Ms Buchanan and Mr Dyer (Assistant Heads), Mrs Quarcoo, Mr Egan (Maths Teachers), Mrs Rose (Maths and ICT Teacher), Mr Higinbotham and Mrs Connolly (MFL Teachers), Mr Wilkinson (Geography Teacher), Mrs Nayyar (Textiles and Design Teacher), Mr Brooks-Beckman (Art Teacher), Mr Hall (Music Teacher), Miss Bell (Science Teacher), Miss Pearce and Mr Shackleton (LSAs), Mrs Thompson (Learning Mentor Sixth Form), and Miss Martinez and Mrs Gabriel (Cover Supervisors).
I am excited by all these additions and appointments and know that they have only added to an already talented and dedicated team of staff.
We were delighted with our A2 results – 54% A* - B and 21% A* - A. 95% of our students have gone to university with 27% going to Russell Group universities.
We were equally successful at GCSE with 74% gaining 5 A*-C including English and Maths.
Key dates can be found in the calendar on our website. Reminders will be advertised, as always, in the Christ’s Chronicles sent to you each Friday. Please ensure we have your correct email details to ensure you receive this and any future parentmail.
Finally, I am sure that you will want to join me in congratulating Miss Oddy and Mr Bird on their marriages to Ross and Stephanie respectively. We also wish Mrs Bradley and Miss Chadwick well as they leave us shortly to begin their maternity leave.
Can I also take this opportunity to remind you that we expect all students to be dressed properly in the normal school uniform at all times; please refer to our website if you are in any doubt about the correct uniform as this gives details of our expectations including appropriate trousers and skirts. Students not in full school uniform will be sent home to rectify this; there should be no excuse after a summer holiday. Uniform should be worn properly with pride from home to school and from school to home.
It promises to be another very busy and exciting year ahead and we look forward to working with you to realise the potential of all our students.
Yours faithfully
Mrs Helen Dixon
