Christ's Celebrates Black History Month
October is the month where black history is celebrated all around the world, including in Christ's School. On Monday, Ms Show and Ms Obi led a whole school collective worship focusing on Black History. Their presentation enabled students and staff members to recognise and celebrate the accolades achieved by black people.
The collective worship encouraged everyone to challenge racism within our community, supporting Christ's core Christian values of Love, Justice and Peace as they underpin everything that we do. As a community we do not want anyone to suffer in silence, therefore, as a school we stand against racism.
As a family you can celebrate Black History Month by:
-
celebrate your friends' achievements. Say or do something nice for that person - a genuine act of kindness.
-
read a book by a black author.
-
indulge in a native dish that you haven’t tried before.
We have come a very long way as a society. And we hope things only get better.
We pray that throughout our lives we continue to unite as a community and love one another.
