Overview
Our intent is to cultivate informed and critical thinkers who are equipped to analyse and interpret economic issues affecting individuals, businesses, and societies
The OCR GCSE Economics curriculum is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of economic principles and practices. By engaging with both micro and macro economic concepts, students will develop an in-depth perspective of how economic forces shape the world around them and influence decision making processes.
Facilities
The Economics department has access to one fully equipped computer room with an additional laptop bank for revision tasks and external research on current affairs. The latest textbook and subscription packages are available for students in the classroom as well as a department website with additional revision resources.
Key Stage 4
OCR GCSE Economics provides students with a solid foundation in economic theory and real-world application. The course is divided into two main components: Introduction to Economics (covering fundamental concepts like supply and demand, market structures, and resource allocation) and National and International Economics (focusing on macroeconomic topics such as inflation, unemployment, international trade, and government policies). Through engaging case studies and contemporary issues, students learn to think critically about economic problems, analyse data, and understand the role of economics in everyday life, preparing them for further study or careers in business, finance, and policymaking.
