Overview

Textiles is a creative and engaging subject that encourages students to explore fabric, design, and innovation. Through engaging, hands-on projects, they develop essential skills in pattern making, fabric manipulation, and construction. Blending practical techniques with wide ranging references. Students apply design processes to craft unique and expressive textile pieces. This subject fosters creativity, problem-solving, and technical expertise.

 


 

Facilities

Our Textiles room is a well-equipped specialist space with a range of high-quality resources, including sewing machines, heat presses, and digital embroidery machines. Ample workspace, fabric supplies, and specialist tools support a variety of techniques, from traditional handcraft to modern digital design.


 

Key Stage 3

KS3 Textiles lessons are once per fortnight and delivered throughout the year. Each year group completes a separate stand alone project. The Department uses GCSE objectives for consistency of assessment language as students move through the curriculum at KS3. Skills and knowledge are consistently revisited throughout with incremental challenges and control of materials, processes and equipment added.
